My First Pregnancy–Tell Me More, Experienced Mamas!

2

Ladies, I’m thrilled to share that just a few short weeks ago, I found out I was pregnant! I’m over the moon excited to welcome this blessing into our lives, it’s truly a gift from God. Day by day, I’m learning about the development of the child and at the time I’m writing this I’m 11 weeks pregnant. My baby bump has all of its major organs developed, a jawline, eyelids and fingers, and toes. It’s a miracle in motion! I shared my youtube video here, so you are welcome to check it out.

  1. I think gathering exercises before pregnancy to share is a great idea! There are moms out there who sell guides but something free and informative doesn’t even come from the doctors office so you’re left searching for the info.

I would add to the list you linked the brestfriend pillow for nursing. I like the boppy for letting the baby rest and hang out in but the brestfriend is better for nursing in my opinion 🙂

Baby carriers (wearing the baby) are another area where there are so many options to choose from- it can get overwhelming! I ended up with a bunch of used ones from different people because I never could decipher which was best for certain stages.

    Hugs xo

  2. Abby, I love that you are an active learner and want to make the most of your pregnancy. What a blessed little one you have! I think the best moms I know are the ones who put the effort in to learn from those who have gone before them, and I know the best tricks and tips I’ve learned have come from other moms around me who are setting a great example. I am forever grateful for all those who have invested their wisdom in me!

This being my 5th pregnancy, I have learned some things along the way that I can share with you on your three questions:

    1. Hospital bag essentials: a nice bath robe, nursing cover, panties big enough to wear the thick pads they give you those first few days (I usually buy a set of briefs that are a size larger that I usually wear just for the first few days after the birth), comfy pjs that are nursing friendly (maybe a button top), nursing bras, scrapbook paper for extra footprints and handprints (the will do extras for you if you bring the paper), house slippers or grippy socks, lanolin and your nursing pillow.

    2. Must have baby products: Angelcare Monitor (or something similar that detects if baby stops breathing), swaddle me velcro swaddlers, muslin swaddle blankets, and for down the road a bit – teething jewelry and knee covers were both life changing with our last baby.

    3. Exercise that helps prepare for delivery: There isn’t much better than walking! I have found that walking a mile consistently helps so much. We do it as a family, so that makes it even better. Stretching is very helpful as well. Here are some simple ones that I do: https://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-lifestyle/pregnancy-week-by-week/multimedia/pregnancy/sls-20076930

I hope some of this is helpful to you! I am excited for you as you take this journey. It’s really an amazing experience. Enjoy!!
