Hey Miami Moms! My name is Sharonda Stewart but most people these days know me as Sporty Mommas and I am thrilled to be joining the Miami Moms Blog contributor team.

Miami

I am a Miami native with a Southern dialect. People always ask me where I am from and are shocked when I tell them that I was born and raised in the county of Dade. That’s one of the best things about Miami. Our city is a melting pot full of so many different cultures, ethnicities, amazing food, gorgeous beaches, and great shopping. Yes, I love shopping.

My motherhood journey started out quite interesting. I became a mom for the first time during the beginning of the 2006 Major League Baseball season. My husband, Shannon Stewart, was the leadoff hitter for the Minnesota Twins. While I was back at home in Miami waiting to give birth, he was just getting settled into the new baseball season. I always knew that I wanted to deliver at home close to my family and Minnesota was just too cold at the time. I took prenatal yoga, hired a doula, attended birthing classes, and was all set to have a natural delivery.

The weeks leading up to my due date were full of anxiety.

I remember those false labor contractions had me running back and forth to the hospital. I think that I probably went three times before it was the actual delivery. My biggest fear was that my husband would miss the delivery. Well, guess what… I was right. By the time he got on the plane to head home on April 20th, I was in the recovery room after an unplanned C-section and everything else was a blur. All I could remember was waking up to hold my beautiful baby girl.

I am now a sporty momma of three. I have two beautiful daughters and a handsome son that keep me on my toes. It was not easy with 3 under 4 but looking back, I wouldn’t have done it any other way. They have an incredible bond, support each other and share similar interests. The first few years were very challenging but I can say that it gets easier, mommas. This motherhood journey has taught me so much about faith, patience, community, and unconditional love. It is a blessing to be a stay-at-home mom and mompreneur. I get to create my schedule and be on the sidelines at every game. That’s how my business was born.

Blog

I am grateful to be part of the Miami Moms Blog team. Blogging has been part of my life for a while now. Besides writing, I love creating sporty chic apparel, inspiring moms to be themselves and to never be ashamed to ask for help. Motherhood takes a village and I am happy to be a part of this one.
