Loving Miami: Ways to Serve our City

Hosting 6 kids in my two bedroom home. . .

This summer we hosted 6 of my nieces and nephews… As you can imagine it was crazy busy. However, we loved every minute of it. Our kids had never experienced the hustle and bustle of Miami and while they expected “fun in the sun,” we were intentional to make their visit both memorable and fun. From Salty Donut, Fun Dimension, Cafecito all the way to serving the community at Chapman Partnership Homeless Center we gave them the Miami Experience.

Upon their departure, we discussed some of their favorite memories and surprisingly they replied that their favorite memory was serving others. This summer they had the opportunity to serve at the Chapman Partnership for the Homeless and at our church on Sundays. While hosting a fun summer for them was our desire, we were so thankful that they discovered a desire to use their hands and feet for the benefit of mankind.

Consequently, I was surprised to hear that serving others made the top of their list. This has inspired me to share a few ideas on how we can collectively “Love on Miami” as summer comes to an end.
