As busy Moms we can always use a few simple snack ideas. Check out these quick and healthy dessert and snack ideas that your kids (and you too Mama) will love!

1.) Date coconut balls –

Take 10 pitted dates and blend with 1 cup of coconut water and 1 handful of coconut flakes. Form into small balls and roll over shredded coconut flakes. Freeze and serve!

2.) Apples with almond butter –

Cut an apple into wedges, dip in almond butter and roll over sliced almonds. Delicious and protein-packed!

3.) Banana swirl –

This one is really simple… blend frozen bananas in a blender! That’s it! It makes the most delicious banana swirl and it’s just 1 ingredient. You can’t get easier than that!

4.) Papaya (All dressed up!) –

Dip papaya in regular organic cashew yogurt and top with pomegranate seeds. Yum!

5.) Celery sticks –

Top celery sticks with almond butter and raisins. We call this “ants on a log” and the kids love it!

6.) Frozen Orange Pops –Quick and Healthy Dessert and Snack Ideas your kids and you will love Miami Moms Blog

  • 4 cups of orange juice (pulp free and not from concentrate)
  • 1/4 cup of honey
  • 1 cup of greek yogurt
  • 2 teaspoons of orange zest
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • kosher salt.

Bring orange juice and honey to simmer in saucepan and whisk occasionally, over medium heat. Cook until reduced to 2 cups (25 minutes). Let cool completely.  Add the orange-honey mixture, yogurt, orange zest, vanilla and pinch of salt to a blender and puree until smooth. Pour into the pop molds. Freeze until set, at least 4 hours or overnight.

To serve, take a pop from freezer, run it under warm water and unmold.

7.) Hummus with pita and carrots –

Cut pita chips into wedges or triangles and separate. Spread them on a baking sheet, spray them lightly with oil and sprinkle them with parmesan and dried basil. Bake for 8-10 minutes at 400 degrees F, until toasty brown.

While baking, dump the chickpeas in a medium bowl add a pinch of salt, pepper and a glug of olive oil and mash them with masher until a smooth consistency. Serve with parmesan pita chips and carrots.

8.) Healthy Popcorn –

Use fresh, natural popcorn tossed with melted butter, honey and pecans. Spread on a baking sheet and bake at 350 for 15 minutes.

9.) Goats milk yogurt with fresh blueberries or strawberries –

Buy the plain goats milk yogurt and just add your child’s favorite fresh fruit!

10.) Chocolate Banana Crepes –

  • pat of butter
  • one banana thinly sliced
  • handful of chocolate chips
  • two flour tortillas
  • powdered sugar for dusting (optional).

Melt butter in non stick pan.  Arrange banana slices over one tortilla and mash them in very lightly with a fork. Dot with chocolate chips and place second tortilla on top. Slide into frying pan and cook for a few minutes on each side, until golden at the edges. Let cool for a little over a minute then slice into triangles and serve with dusted powdered sugar if desired.

This is a great recipe to include your children in the process. They can peel the bananas, mash them, place on tortilla and sprinkle chocolate chips over fruit.

Enjoy!
